Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) treatment is the injection of your own blood plasma, that is rich in platelets and fortified with vitamins and nutrients, into the skin.

Platelets are key in the production of collagen and elastin (which are the building blocks of firm and supple skin)

Blood is taken from the patient and spun in a centrifuge to obtain the platelets. These are  then injected into the superficial layers of skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. It is also used to target often difficult to treat areas such as the thin skin of the under eye area.

PRP is also an excellent treatment to improve hair loss. Itis microneedled into the scalp, improving the blood micro-circulation in that area as well as delivering essential nutrients and vitamins to the dormant hair follicles.

Frequently asked Questions

The procedure can be mildly uncomfortable- However topical anaesthetic can be used if required to minimise any discomfort.

A 45 minute appt is required as the blood taking and centrifugation process (spinning of the blood to obtain the platelet rich portion) take 15 minutes in addition to the procedure (which takes approximately 15-30 minutes).

A course of 3-6 treatments are required to see the best results. New collagen production takes approximately 6-12 weeks to be visible following first treatment.
