Winkles A

Wrinkles are a normal part of the ageing process where the skin develops fine or deeper set lines. These are on a number of areas on the body. More noticeable on the face, neck and hands, these concerns can often become more prominent as time passes. Wrinkles may appear as: frown lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet, and other lines around the nose cheeks and mouth.

A number of factors can contribute to the development of wrinkles, with age being the most common. The skin also becomes fragile through the loss of collagen, diminished fatty deposits and a decline in the production of natural oils. This can result in skin that is wrinkled and saggy. Exposure to UV light from the sun can speed up this process, as it can break down collagen and elastin fibres – the connective tissues deep within the skin. Without these supporting fibres the skin loses its strength and flexibility. Other accelerants, such as smoking and alcohol consumption can work in the same way. Facial movements such as smiling forms a groove under the skin. When coupled with weaker skin that finds it difficult to bounce back, this groove can become permanent.

There is much to be said for growing old gracefully and a crinkle here and there can give a distinguished look. Wrinkles are not always a characteristic that we like to possess; feeling dissatisfied with an appearance that appears fatigued.
