Teeth Grinding

Teeth grinding (also known as bruxism), affects more than 1 in 10 people.

Many people grind or clench their teeth in their sleep or when they are nervous, concentrating or stressed throughout the day. Some people are not even aware that they are doing it.

Bruxism can cause serious damage to your teeth, cause severe jaw pain, disrupted sleep, facial pain, earache and migraines. If bruxism occurs for a prolonged period of time, the masseter muscles can become enlarged, resulting in a more “square face” appearance.

Treatments that can help with this area of concern:

  • Botulinum toxin injections can relax the masseter muscle and are one of the most effective treatments for teeth grinding. It can also result in a reduction in size of the masseter muscles resulting in a softer and less square facial contour.
