Hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation is a common and usually harmless skin condition that is characterised by darker patches on the skin.
This is caused by an increase in melanin (the natural pigment that gives our skin its colour) produced by skin cells called melanocytes and can affect people of all ethnicities and backgrounds.
The development of hyperpigmentation is multi-factorial however excessive sun exposure is the most common cause. Ageing, skin injury and hormonal changes are additional contributors.
Dr Fiona will assess your skin type during your initial consultation and discuss the best treatment options depending on your area of concern.
